WHAT IS THE CORE SCORE?
The CORESCORE is a 0–100 numerical index used in chiropractic care to objectively measure the efficiency of the spinal nervous system and the impact of chronic stress on overall health.
The CORESCORE is used to identify hidden stress, create personalized care plans, and track measurable progress over time, often aiming to move a patient’s score from a “challenged” range (e.g., 40–60) toward 70+ or higher as health improves. Higher scores indicate better neural function, with 100 representing near-perfect nerve communication, while lower scores suggest significant interference from stress, subluxations, or poor adaptability. The technology helps simplify complex nervous system data into an understandable report for patients, demonstrating how adjustments and lifestyle changes can restore neural efficiency. The CORESCORE evaluates the functional health of the spinal nervous system, going beyond structural imaging like X-rays to assess how well the body is functioning under stress.
WHAT DOES THE CORESCORE MEASURE?
This assessment is generated in under 10 minutes and is calculated by combining data from three primary, non-invasive INSiGHT neuroTECH scans:
- Surface Electromyography (sEMG): Measures the electrical activity in the muscles along the spine. This reveals areas of muscle fatigue, asymmetry, or chronic tension caused by nerve interference (subluxations), which can affect posture and spinal support. We use this highly-accurate, non-invasive scan to document your progress. It’s more accurate than how you feel.
- Paraspinal Thermal Scan (THERMAL): As you’d expect, this measures temperature. When there are disturbances to your nervous system along the spine, there are often temperature differences from side to side. This is due to inflammation and changes in blood flow. Our thermal scan uses non-invasive infrared sensors to detect minute temperature differences on either side of the spine and reveals the condition of your autonomic nervous system controlling your organs, glands and circulatory system.
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV): While sitting quietly in a room with your hand on a platform-styled sensor, this technology accurately measures your heart rate over 5 minutes. This test is widely used by cardiologists, exercise physiologists, psychologists and medical researchers. Now chiropractors can use this technology to determine how chronic stress that has been accumulating over time is affecting your immune responsiveness, degree of fatigue, level of recovery, overall energy and general vitality. This is a key indicator of the autonomic nervous system’s resilience and adaptability, showing how well the body can manage and recover from physical, chemical, and emotional stress.
At Touch of Health Chiropractic, we use the CORESCORE as a “neurological report card” to diagnose hidden stress, create personalized care plans, and track progress with measurable data, transforming patient communication from subjective feelings to objective function. It is a great way to assess the pediatric spine and nervous system without the use of radiographs.
